Ever since the Gabor sisters took over Hollywood with their glamorous looks and scandalous love affairs, the glittering world of fashion has loved an uber-cool sister pairing. Not only do they reflect the love and closeness that can exist between sisters but their ensembles can complement or contrast to create two dramatic and dynamic looks.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen 

Perhaps the most famous twins in the world are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who started their careers in television at the very young age of nine months old. After that, they starred in numerous sitcoms and TV shows throughout their childhoods and teenage years before embarking on their own highly successful fashion lines The Row and Elizabeth and James, with the former winning the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award in 2015. In their early fashion years, they cultivated a clear binary image for themselves, with Mary-Kate opting for tomboyish looks and Ashley for the more traditionally feminine: however, into their twenties they adopted a similar style aesthetic, opting for voluminous oversized dresses and coats, dark colour palates and large dark sunglasses. Gigi and Bella Hadid 

The daughters of Dutch model Yolanda Foster, Gigi and Bella Hadid have emerged as two of the most successful models of recent years thanks to their enormous social media followings. Keeping their millions of supporters constantly updated with their work and private lives, they have come to redefine the role of supermodel. The pair very much embody opposing ideals of American femininity: Gigi has long luscious locks of blonde hair and bronzed skin, emanating the Californian cool of her home state; Bella on the other hand offers a look that is moodier and darker, with plenty of sultry edge. Their joint venture is Rodarte, an award-winning designer label which they set up upon graduating from UC Berkeley in California. The sisters were an almost instant success thanks to their initial collection, which earned them a meeting with Anna Wintour.
