Chances are that when you think of fields of lavender, sunny Provence is the first place that comes to mind.\u00a0 Did you think of Bulgaria? It may come as a surprise that Bulgaria has become in recent years the largest producer of lavender in the world. We knew that Bulgarians are famous for rose essential oil, but we just had no idea about lavender until our social networks feed was filled with photos in lavender fields and we started the research.<\/p>\n

Although we are not fans of products with extracts of lavender (that smell is too much for us, it give us headaches), we really wanted to see how the lavender fields look like and take some photos there, of course. And it was quite a surprise that we liked very much the smell, we found it very pleasant.<\/p>\n

But before we reach the Tyulenovo lavender fields, we decided to go to Durankulak and Shabla and take a walk on those deserted beaches.<\/p>\n

We went in this road trip with our friends Ramo and Simi from the Traveling Sisters<\/a>, but also with Nico from Stylist112<\/a>, our cousin, who we met through the girls. Yes, the world is really small. We had Nico in our Facebook friends list for a few years and we followed her blog, but just a few months ago we discovered that we are third cousins \u200b\u200band we grew up in the same village \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

So, we first wanted to go on the Durankulak<\/strong> beach, but we get lost and we ended up in a small fishing village, which we liked very much, it seemed like one of the little villages from the European films. From there, we went to the Krapets beach and there we found other fishermen \ud83d\ude42 The beach is wild and it’s quite small, but it has its charm, everywhere are colorful boats, perfect for pictures \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

From there we went to see the Shabla<\/strong> lighthouse and there are only stones and rocks and the paths are quite steep. The scenery is beautiful, but Bulgarians, like Romanians don’t really know how to exploit these „natural treasures”. We saw a few workers there and some machines, so maybe there is hope for the future \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

From Shabla we went to Tyulenovo<\/strong>, to the lavender fields. These are not the only lavender fields, you can also found others near Nessebar, Kavarna, Burgas etc., and they are extending from year to year because it’s an extremely profitable business.
\nLavender fields are not as spectacular as those you see on Instagram. First, you must know that all the photos are edited to look more „bright purple” and are took from certain angles and lavender looks like it it has one meter. Secondly, in Bulgaria, the fields are not paved with little rocks between the lines like the ones in Provence, so if you want to take pictures among the flowers, you must be prepared to stay with other memories apart from photos- some nice scratches \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

We left the lavender fields with some scratches and messy hair because Tyulenovo it’s very windy and we went to the hotel restaurant (the only one in the area) near the rocks.<\/p>\n

The food is not too great, but the prices are very good and the view is absolutely amazing. After we ate, we made a small hike around and then we headed to Vama Veche, which we found very changed (for better) than a few years ago when we visited last time.<\/p>\n

And that’s how we ended our road trip through Bulgaria. Have you ever visited Bulgaria?<\/p>\n

Cand va ganditi la lavanda, probabil mintea va zboara catre campurile insorite din Provence, insa o sa ramaneti surprinsi sa aflati ca regiunea franceza nu e cel mai mare producator din lume.\u00a0 Desi nu are o traditie la fel de veche ca Provence, Bulgaria a devenit in ultimii ani cel mai mare producator de lavanda din lume. Stiam ca bulgarii sunt renumiti pentru uleiul esential de trandafiri, insa de lavanda chiar nu aveam habar, asta pana cand feed-urile de pe retelele de socializare au inceput sa ni se umple cu fotografii in lanuri de levantica si am inceput sa ne documentam despre acest aspect.<\/p>\n

Desi nu suntem fane ale produselor cu extracte de lavanda (ni se pare ca miros prea puternic si ne ia durerea de cap de la ele), ne doream mult sa ajungem pe camp sa vedem cum arata in stare naturala si bineinteles sa facem niste fotografii. Si ne-a placut tare mult lavanda, nu ne-a deranjat nici mirosul, ba din contra, ni s-a parut foarte placut.<\/p>\n

Dar pana sa ajungem in lanurile cu lavanda din Tyulenovo, am hotarat sa mergem si in Durankulak si Shabla, sa ne plimbam putin pe plajele pustii.<\/p>\n

Am pornit la drum cu Ramo si Simi de la Surorile Calatoare<\/a>, despre care v-am mai povestit pe blog, dar si cu Nico de la Stilistul 112<\/a>, verisoara noastra mai indepartata, pe care am cunoscut-o prin intermediul fetelor. Da, lumea chiar e extrem de mica. O aveam pe Nico in lista de prieteni de cativa ani si ii urmaream blogul, insa de abia acum cateva luni am descoperit ca suntem verisoare de gradul trei si ca am copilarit in acelasi sat \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Nu am nimerit pe plaja din Durankulak<\/strong>, ne-am cam ratacit si am ajuns intr-un mic sat de pescari, care ne-a placut tare mult, parea una din localitatile unde se filmeaza peliculele europene. De aici, am plecat spre plaja\u00a0Krapets si acolo am dat peste alti pescari \ud83d\ude42 Plaja Krapets nu e amenajata, e una salbatica si e destul de mica, insa are farmecul ei, mai ales ca peste tot sunt barci colorate, perfecte pentru poze, dupa cum puteti vedea si in clipul pe care l-am postat mai jos \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

De aici am plecat sa vedem farul din Shabla<\/strong>, localitate unde nu mai exista nici macar nisipul grunjos din Durankulak, ci doar pietre si stanci, iar potecile sunt destul de abrupte. Peisajul e foarte frumos, dar ca si romanii, nici bulgarii nu prea stiu sa exploateze aceste „comori naturale”, nu prea au intreprins nimic in zona. Desi era pustiu, am vazut ca s-a deschis un restaurant in zona si se lucra, asa ca exista sperante pentru viitor.<\/p>\n

Din Shabla am plecat spre Tyulenovo<\/strong>, la lanurile de lavanda. Drumul e foarte prost, vreo opt kilometri i-am parcurs pe un drum ca o ulita de tara. Acestea nu sunt singurele campuri cultivate cu lavanda, mai gasiti si altele pe langa Nessebar, Kavarna, Burgas etc., se extind de la an la an, fiind o afacere extrem de profitabila.<\/p>\n

Campurile cu lavanda nu sunt asa spectaculoase precum le vedeti pe cele din Provence in fotografiile de Instagram. In primul rand toate fotografiile sunt editate pentru ca movul sa para mai aprins (si noi le-am mai editat putin, recunoastem) si sunt facute din anumite unghiuri pentru ca lavanda sa para „de un metru” \ud83d\ude42 In al doilea rand, in Bulgaria, campurile nu „sunt amenajate” cum sunt cele din Provence cu mici carari pietruite printre randuri, asa ca daca vreti sa faceti poze printre flori, pregatiti-va sa ramaneti si cu alte amintiri in afara de fotografii- zgarieturi si intepaturi de toata frumusetea \ud83d\ude00 Un alt sfat ar fi sa va prindeti parul sau sa va puneti ceva pe cap pentru ca bate foarte tare vantul si o sa fie foarte greu sa nu iesiti cu parul ciufulit in toate directiile.<\/p>\n

De la lavanda, am plecat pe „plaja” din Tyulenovo, mai precis la hotelul restaurant (singurul de prin zona) de langa stanci. Mancarea nu e prea grozava, insa preturile sunt foarte bune, iar privelistea e absolut superba. Dupa ce am mancat, am mai facut o mica drumetie prin zona si apoi ne-am indreptat catre Vama Veche, care ni s-a parut foarte schimbata (in bine) fata de acum cativa ani cand am vizitat-o ultima oara.<\/p>\n

Si cam asa s-a incheiat road trip-ul nostru prin Bulgaria din vara aceasta. Voi ce localitati din Bulgaria ati mai vizitat pe care le recomandati?<\/p>\n
